How It Started

Letters From Joseph began with a simple realization. Many of us move quickly through spaces that were built with great care and intention, and we rarely pause long enough to truly notice them. Churches are attended, photographed, or passed by, but the craftsmanship, history, and atmosphere inside them can easily go overlooked. I started this project because I wanted to slow down and pay closer attention.

My name is Greg Ochoa. I am Catholic, I live in Las Vegas, and I am blessed with a beautiful wife and two children. My faith is part of the reason I am drawn to these churches in the first place. They are not just buildings to me. They are places of prayer, history, and community.

I have always been drawn to architecture itself. Some historic churches carry centuries of stonework and artistic craftsmanship. Others are newly built, shaped by modern materials and thoughtful contemporary design. Both deserve to be noticed.

Each month I visit a different church and document it in a tangible way. Every edition includes a written reflection inspired by the space, original photography taken on site, and a custom illustrated sticker that captures the shape and character of the building. Everything is printed, assembled, and mailed as a physical release.

There is no digital archive behind it. The intention is to create something that can be opened, held, and collected over time.

Why Churches

Architecture carries memory. Materials age, light shifts throughout the day, and small design choices reveal the priorities of the people who built the space. These buildings hold more than structure. They hold presence.

Letters From Joseph exists to preserve some of that presence in a simple and thoughtful format. It is not about promoting a specific parish or denomination. It is about noticing craftsmanship, history, beauty, and design wherever they are found.

A Collection Over Time

Each month features a different church. Every edition is treated as a limited physical release. Once it has been mailed, it becomes part of the archive.

Over time, subscribers build a collection of places they may never visit in person, but can still encounter through words and imagery.

An Independent Project

Letters From Joseph is an independent creative project curated by me. It is not officially affiliated with any parish or diocese. It is simply an ongoing effort to document, reflect, and appreciate the beauty found in sacred spaces.

Why St. Joseph

I have been part of the Confraternity of St. Joseph at my local parish for over three years now, and I have never experienced a brotherhood that has grounded and shaped my life more. In that time, St. Joseph has become central to my faith in a quiet but steady way.

He left no recorded words in Scripture. No sermons. No letters. And yet, his example has spoken loudly in my life. His obedience, his hidden strength, and his care for what was entrusted to him have formed the way I approach responsibility, faith, and this work.

In a way, these are the only letters he has ever written in my life. Not words from him, but reflections shaped by the standard he set. That is why it is called Letters From Joseph.
